Track Induction (7 day course)

Course Aims

To instruct candidates on correctly determining their responsibilities and duties when working on or near the line and to give delegates a basic understanding of the principles of track engineering including permanent way construction, components and work methods.

Who Is The Course Suitable For?

The course is designed for candidates new to track engineering who wish to obtain the Track Induction competence but already hold the Personal Track Safety competence.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate their ability to correctly interpret Rule Book Track Safety Handbook (TSH) and relevant Local Instructions when required to go on or near the line.
  • Demonstrate their understanding and ability to follow a safe system of work.
  • Demonstrate their ability to use tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate their understanding of Permanent Way terms and procedures

Additional Information

Candidates must be over the age of 16, be sponsored by a link-up approved railway company and have successfully undertaken the PTS course.

Only those with a sufficient grasp of the English language to be able to give an emergency call will be eligible to attend.

Please note this course is a 7 day course and is carried out over 7 working days ie not including weekend days.
