This course is  designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking Crane Operator Lorry Loader as part of their duties on the Network Rail Infrastructure.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course candidates will be able to:

  • Describe how the crane is designed to function under normal operating conditions
  • Describe what equipment calibration certificates and checks are required to comply with the relevant rules and regulations
  • Describe what preparatory checks need to be completed on the machine
  • Describe the checks needed to be completed on lifting accessories prior to use
  • Briefly describe the main functions of all relevant controls available to the Driver/Operator
  • Avoid the Lorry Loader Crane being placed in an unstable condition
  • Demonstrate their ability to read a work/lift plan and communicate its content effectively
  • Correctly attach and use the lifting accessories to ensure a safe lift
  • Control the movement of the Lorry Loader Crane
  • Describe what information needs to be give to the Driver/Operator

Additional Information

Candidates must be a minimum age of 18, hold the PTS competence and be deemed competence to undertake OTP duties by their primary sponsor.

Candidates must hold a valid Machine Operator Competence - Machine Operator Highway Permissible Vehicle or Machine Operator Self Propelled MEWP
